Convergence Theatre Company is seeking performers for a production of the hit musical Godspell! Godspell is a comedic 70’s rock themed musical about the life of Jesus and his followers. The show is both light hearted and profound, challenging the audience to love the world around us in spite of everything we know of it. The play's flexible scripting gives opportunity to a wide range of performers with parts available for people in their late teens all the way up into their early 80’s.

About The Play
Godspell is a 70’s rock themed musical about the life of Jesus according to the gospel of Matthew. Both light-hearted and profound, this exciting and interactive musical will have the audience thinking deeply about what it means to live in community with others, and how to radically accept those around us. While the story of Jesus is traditionally a Christian one, there is space for all faiths to be enriched and cultivated.
Godspell began as a project by drama students at Carnegie Mellon University and then moved to the off-off-Broadway theater La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club in the East Village of Manhattan. The show was rescored for an off-Broadway production, which opened on May 17, 1971, and became a long-running success. Many productions have followed worldwide, including a 2011 Broadway revival.

Time slots will be 10 minutes. The director will email your time slot after your audition form is submitted online. Performers are strongly encouraged to sign up in advance as coming to auditions without signing up may result in a long wait for your audition slot.
Audition Information
For auditions, actors may choose between a prepared comedic monologue of 90 seconds or less, or one of the optional selections from the script. You will also need to prepare 45-60 seconds of a song. The first two nights will be general auditions, during which you will have one 10 minute time slot , and the 21st will be a dance audition. Godspell features 10-14 performers.
This production will rehearse weekday evenings (TBD based on actor availability) from 7:00pm-9:00pm at either the Sutter Theatre Center for the Arts on Plumas Street in Yuba City or the Lee Burrows Center for the Arts on E St. in Marysville.
